The 70-year old rock legend is going through some rough times, he confided in an interview to Rolling Stone this week.

“It’s scary stuff,” said Osbourne, “from 40 to 70 [years old] was OK and suddenly you get to 70 and everything caved in on me.”

Osbourne had to deal this year with a staph infection, pneumonia, and worst of all – a fall down the stairs that landed him in the hospital with serious back and neck injuries.

“For the first, say, four months, I was absolutely in agony, I was in agony beyond anything I ever experienced before in my life,” said Osbourne, who is certainly no stranger to pain after a 2003 quad-bike accident left him with broken ribs, collarbone, and vertebra. “It was awful. I’m taking physical and occupational therapy classes, but the progress is very slow. They say it’s going to take at least a year.”

But having the eternal rocker staying at home and taking it easy has some advantageous results, at least in the realm of creativity: Ozzy reports he recorded nine new song ideas: “I thought, ‘Well, if I just lay there watching f**ing World at War again, I’m not gonna f**king do anything. So do what you can, even if it’s a little, just so you’re doing stuff.”

As for returning to live shows, there is still a long way to go, as Osbourne gloomily summarized: “I don’t think I can do a rock concert right now. I’ll go, ‘Hello,’ and that’s it.”

We sincerely wish to see Ozzy healthy and back on the road again next year, and hope he’ll have a killer new album to show for his sufferings!
