Vampire Weekend have finished the work on their new album. The news was revealed by bassist Chris Baio in a newsletter shared with fans ahead of the release of the live album Frog on the Bass Drum Vol. 02.

Frog on the Bass Drum Vol. 02 was recorded at Vampire Weekend’s show in Milan, Italy, in July 2019. While writing the newsletter, Baio used the opportunity to remember the first time the band played in Italy, revealed that he hosted “Vampire Weekend Corporate Retreat on the Southern Oregon Coast,” and hinted at “a lot of” plans for the next year.

“So I’d like to conclude this update with the most exciting news: LP5 IS DONE,” Baio wrapped up the newsletter.

The band’s spokesperson later confirmed that Vampire Weekend’s fifth studio album is, in fact, finished in a statement shared with Pitchfork.

Vampire Weekend released their most recent studio effort, Father of the Bride, back in 2019. Since then, the band shared a couple of extended plays, Live in Florida and 40:42, and revealed plans to release a series of limited, vinyl-only live albums.

The first live album in the series, Frog On The Bass Drum Vol. 01, was released in June 2022, with 2,500 copies being available. Frog on the Bass Drum Vol. 02 will be limited to 5,000 copies and is already available for purchase on the band’s official website, with shipping scheduled for February 13, 2024.
