Normani gave us one of the best songs of the year with her Sam Smith collaboration “Dancing with a Stranger”, and we haven’t heard from her ever since. Fortunately, she’s coming back to rock our world with new single “Motivation”, which was co-written by fellow pop star Ariana Grande.

The former Fifth Harmony singer recently discussed the collaboration in an interview with Rolling Stone’s Morning Sessions and revealed that Grande gave her some great advice during the time they shared in the studio.

“She’s been very supportive of me too. I talk to her about the creative process. I’m like, ‘When did you know your album was done.’ She was just like, ‘Honestly, you’ll know. Nobody will have to tell you. You’ll feel it. Just trust your instinct; trust your gut,’” said Normani.

Normani described the track they worked on together as “a feel-good record”, and said she already filmed a music video about a month ago. “Motivation” is set to be released on August 16, and it will serve as the lead single on her upcoming debut album.
