Releasing a biopic proves to be one of the best ways to renew interest in your music. Members of Mötley Crüe just learned how profitable this move can be after Netflix’s film The Dirt led ta a massive increase in their album sales.

The Dirt premiered on the streaming service on March 22 to mixed reviews, but that didn’t stop it from attracting viewers. Those who saw it were hypnotized by Mötley Crüe’s most iconic songs, and wanted to hear more of them after the movie was over.

Streaming numbers have gone through the roof as a result of the film. All the major streaming services, including Spotify and Deezer, recorded a huge jump in daily streams after the film came out. Same goes for iTunes, where sales have soared by 2,000 percent!

Director Jeff Tremaine understands where this fascination with Mötley Crüe is coming from, saying he also gained a new appreciation of their music while making The Dirt.

“I didn’t come into this as a super-fan, but I’m leaving it a super-fan of their music. As a filmmaker, I have to hear those songs so many goddamn times that I should be sick of them. But I’m not. I actually like them more than ever. Their music holds up,” explained Tremaine.
