It’s been less than a year since Bloc Party dropped their latest studio album, and its follow-up is already taking shape. The band’s singer Kele Okereke recently discussed his future plans with NME and revealed Bloc Party is working on exciting new music.

Okereke recently set down with NME to talk about his new solo album The Flames Pt. 2 and the upcoming tour with Paramore. His plans with Block Party also came up during the interview, and Okereke revealed they’re working on something new.

“We, Bloc Party, have been writing in the last week. We have made a lot of music over the years and we’re going to make more. We are writing at the moment and it feels exciting,” said Okereke.

Bloc Party’s last album Alpha Games came out in April last year, and it made it to the top ten on the official UK chart, becoming the band’s fifth record to do so. It produced four singles, including “Traps”, “The Girls Are Fighting”, “S-x Magik”, and “If We Get Caught”.

Bloc Party will soon serve as a supporting act on Paramore’s next tour alongside Foals, The Linda Lindas, and Genesis Owusu. The band’s frontwoman Hayley Williams previously revealed that Bloc Party served as a major inspiration for their new album This Is Why.
