Iggy Azalea has been a mainstay on the modern hip-hop scene for quite some time, but it seems she wants to focus on other creative endeavors. The Australian rapper said she’s not planning to finish her next album and dropped hints about potential retirement.

Azalea kicked 2024 off by sharing a lengthy message with her fans on the social media platform x (formerly Twitter) and revealed she’s planning to shift her focus away from music in the new year. Songwriting is no longer her priority, and she wants to explore other creative endeavors that she’s more passionate about, such as design and creative direction.

“That’s why I want to let you know that I’m not going to finish my album. It’s been paused for a few months while I was giving direction for a different project & in truth I just haven’t felt the urge to go back to it,” wrote Azalea.

The Grammy-nominated rapper also denied rumors that she’s been “bullied away from music”, saying she’s too stubborn to do that, and added that she resisted making this decision because she doesn’t like being viewed as someone who quits.

Azalea’s third studio album The End of an Era hit the shelves in 2022, but failed to replicate the success of its predecessors The New Classic and In My Defense.
