The iconic Glastonbury Festival will be even bigger next year. The Festival has secured approval to increase its capacity in its 2020 incarnation. The Mendip City Council’s Licensing Board approved an increase of 3.4% on the 2019 capacity bringing it to around 210,000 participants.

The festival has yet to confirm whether it will make use of this expansion.

The new total would allow for the sale of 142,000 tickets in total, plus 5000 for area locals and 63,000 for talent, crew, and volunteers.

The festival will take place on June 24-28, 2020, and tickets will go on sale on October 6. The headliners are still to be confirmed but Paul McCartney is rumored to be one of them. The singer said that such a slot is “a distinct possibility.”

Other names said to be possible headlines are Fleetwood Mac, who has yet to play in the festival and the 1975, who confirmed they are playing the festival, although they do not know whether they will headline it.
