Ed Sheeran will be performing across the U.S. all summer long, and a surprise guest joined him during his latest show in Detroit. Eminem stunned his hometown by performing alongside Sheeran during the latest Mathematics World Tour stop in Detroit.

Sheeran brought the hip-hop icon onstage to perform a couple of tracks during his recent concert. The British hitmaker started playing Eminem’s smash hit “Lose Yourself” before the rapper emerged on stage, and they went on to perform “Stan” by each other’s side, with Sheeran filling in for Dido’s parts.

Sheeran and Eminem go way back and they recorded several songs together, including “River”, “Those Kinda Nights”, and “Remember the Name” ft. 50 Cent. This performance is somewhat of a full-circle moment for the duo, since they had their very first studio session in Eminem’s studio in Detroit.

“Actually, [the] first time we met, we didn’t make music. I hung out there for about four hours, and we just spoke Marvel and Avengers for about four hours. And then the next time I went back, we made a tune,” said Sheeran while speaking to Apple Music back in 2021.

Sheeran’s The Mathematics Tour kicked off in April last year, and it includes a total of 88 shows that will keep him on the road until September 23.
