It’s been almost a year and a half since Doja Cat dropped her album Hot Pink, and it’s still producing hit singles. “Streets” is the latest viral song to come from this album, and it now comes with a sensual music video that perfectly captures its spirit.
“Streets” was featured on Hot Pink when the album came out in late 2019, but it took a while for it to gain traction. That finally happened earlier this year, when it was used in the viral “silhouette challenge” on TikTok together with the song “Put Your Head on My Shoulder”.
The newly-released music video for “Streets” contains obvious hints to this viral challenge, but the aesthetic shifts as the video proceeds. After grabbing the attention of a distracted taxi driver, Doja Cat is shown dancing on top of a car and pulling the driver into her web.
“Streets” was released as an official single on January 29th, 2021, shortly after finding a renewed interest thanks to the “silhouette challenge”. It peaked at no. 18 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and reached the top 10 on the Billboard Global 200.
