Taking the good with the bad: We just recently got the news that all four members of Twisted Sister — Dee Snider, Eddie Ojeda, Jay Jay French and Mark “The Animal” Mendoza — will come together for a special gathering on the 1st and 2nd of November in Tampa, Florida, and now frontman Snider announced on his Instagram that he’s taking an indefinite break from performing.

“Well, now that my summer shows are over, I can tell you that I’m taking a break from concert performing for a while,” the 64-year-old rocker said in a video post. “I’ve got no more concerts for the rest of this year. 2020, I’m clearing the boards there as well. We’ll see what happens after that.”

Thankfully, Snider isn’t planning to disappear completely from the public’s eye, and he confirms he’ll be doing some guest appearances: “In the meantime, you’ll see me around — I’ll be popping up here or there; I’ll be doing a song or something with other people — but as far as concerts go, that’s gotta take a break.”

Snider has said in interviews from recent years that he feels that he can’t perform physically on the same level he did when he was younger, but it seems that this hiatus is motivated by other, more personal reasons:

“I’m working on my novel, I’ve got some movies in production, television shows, things like that, and I’ve got some family situations to take care of,” he reassured. “Everything’s cool, but I’ve gotta take care of the home fires every now and then. So, [I’m] not sure when I’ll be back on the concert stage — if I’ll be back; we’ll see — but I’m taking a break for a while.”

What can we say — as much as we want to read a Dee Snider novel, we want him back on stage even more!
