Parents everywhere, beware! Steel Panther, the four-piece metal band from Los Angeles who made a career out of profanity, is coming at you with their sixth studio album!

In celebration of their upcoming release, Heavy Metal Rules, guitarist Satchel gave an interview over at MusicRadar.

Here’s what he had to say about the album’s title: “Dude, I can’t believe we haven’t thought of that before! There’s actually a song on the record called “Heavy Metal Rules” too, which is something we’ve never done, having a title track on an album. It’s so perfect because heavy metal rules and that’s what we love to do.”

As the title suggests, Steel Panther are very committed to their chosen genre of music. But what exactly qualifies as heavy metal nowadays? What are the rules of the trade?

“The only rule is that there are no rules. That’s the rule! Follow anything else besides that rule and you’re not heavy metal,” explains Satchel with his signature brand of logic. “That’s the essence of it all right there. You can learn about music theory and what chords go together and sh*t, but the vibe is about rebellion, having fun and partying into your mid-60s like me.”

Well, if you’re gonna put it like that, sign us up as well! Heavy Metal Rules, coming out September 27th!
