Carly Rae Jepsen returned to the spotlight with her fourth studio album, Dedicated, and we were very close to getting another a completely different album. The Canadian singer secretly recorded an entire disco album, which will probably never see the light of day.

The young hit-maker discussed her latest LP in a recent interview with SF Weekly and said it was heavily influenced by ’70s disco, especially ABBA, the Bee-Gees, and Donna Summer. Jepsen even admitted she was very close to releasing a disco record, but eventually decided to go in a different direction.

“I had an album I named Disco Sweat that will probably never be released, and shouldn’t… I ended up getting out of a rut and found some songs that were a little ’90s that I wanted to include, a little something that made more sense than this Disco Sweat, that will be buried in my backyard,” Rae Jepsen said.

Since this album never came to be, she decided to release Dedicated instead. It came out on May 17th, and gave us the singles “Now That I Found You”, “No Drug Like Me” and “Too Much”.
