Jukebox musicals are all the rage right now, and it was just a matter of time before Britney Spears got one based on her songs. That moment finally came and the plot of this stage production involves everything from fairy tales to feminism.

Once Upon A One More Time will have its opening night at the James M. Nederlander theater in Chicago on November 13. It will run through December 1, before heading to Broadway. The New York premiere date is still under wraps, but theater experts believe it will end up replacing Michael Jackson musical “Don’t Stop Til’ You Get Enough”.

Britney Spears’ songs will help tell the story of this promising musical, but she’s not expected to make an appearance. The plot will, instead, focus on a group of fairy tale princesses who start looking at their lives from a new perspective after a rogue fairy godmother introduces them to a feminist classic The Feminine Mystique.

Spears said she’s super-excited to get a musical featuring her songs – and so is theater producer James L. Nederlander who worked closely with the pop princes to bring this project to life.

“For three years, we have been working closely with her to develop a concept that perfectly encapsulates her unique spirit, and are so thrilled to finally bring this joyous and electrifying show to the stage,” explained Nederlander.
