Hard to believe, but So Much Fun is officially Young Thug’s first album.

The 28-year-old rapper, born Jeffery Lamar Williams, has been in the public’s eye since 2013, thanks to collaborations with artists such as Rich Homie Quan, Birdman, Camila Cabello, and Donald Glover, to name a few.

Since its release two weeks ago, So Much Fun has reached number one on the US Billboard 200. Young Thug recently gave an interview to GQ and was asked if having his own solo album is a special occasion, or does it feel like routine by now:

“It was routine [but it also] felt different because I was making music for myself,” he explained. “Not being selfish, but on a very humble scale, I was making music for myself—the way I like to hear myself sound and the way I want to dish my stuff out, but this time I really focused on putting out what people like. That’s why it’s so cool and people are merging to it and liking it. It’s mainly because I honestly sat down and was like ‘Imma dedicate this album to the people. I’m gonna give the people what they wanna hear.’”

When asked why he decided to name the album So Much Fun and not, as was originally planned, Gold Mout Dog, Young Thug had this to say:

“So with Gold Mouf Dog, I wanted people to look at me how they used to look at me like Young Thug. Like Gold Mouth Young Thug. Blonde Hair Young Thug. I wanted people to look at me like that, but I didn’t want to go back to that image. I wanted to keep the grown, sleek look, but I wanted people to think of me that way, you know what I’m sayin?”

Could it be that Young Thug is turning into Adult Thug right in front of our eyes? Let’s hope that So Much Fun is the first of many solo albums to come!
