The MTV VMA Awards 2019 saw the likes of Taylor Swift, Cardi B, and Billie Eilish taking home the prize in recognition of their contributions to music this year. The ceremony also included stunning performances from the likes of Rosalía and Ozuna. There were four performers, however, who truly stole the show.
Here are the highlights.
Lizzo
Lizzo rocked up on stage like a ball of sunshine and let the crowd have it with “Truth Hurts” and her 2016 hit “Good As Hell”. Her backdrop included a giant inflatable arse.
Taylor Swift
Taylor Swift performed the singles from her new album “Lover” and “You Need To Calm Down.” She opened the show and kicked things off with a fun energy.
Miley Cyrus
Miley Cyrus initially turned down the chance to play at the MTV Awards only to change her mind last minute. She gave a powerful performance of her new single “Slide Away.”
Missy Elliot
At the end of the day, it was Missy Elliot who truly stole the show. She sang her big hit “Get Ur Freak On” and treated us to a rendition of her new single, “Throw It Back”. Her medley performance was a sparkly surprise and she exceeded our expectations on pretty much all accounts.
