It’s only been a year since Wilco dropped their last studio album Cruel Country and its follow-up is just around the corner. The alternative rock band from Chicago teased the release of their next studio album Cousin with a new single “Evicted”.

Cousin will mark a change of pace for Wilco since this album was produced by Cate Le Bon, marking the first time since Sky Blue Sky that they worked with a producer outside of their immediate circle. This will be their 13th studio album, and it comes about a year after their double album Cruel Country hit the shelves last May.

Wilco frontman Jeff Tweedy said they wanted to encapsulate “this feeling of being in it and out of it at the same time” with Cousin. He also added that the lead single “Evicted” is all about self-inflicted wounds that still hurt and are almost impossible to fully recover from.

“I guess I was trying to write from the point of view of someone struggling to make an argument for themself in the face of overwhelming evidence that they deserve to be locked out of someone’s heart,” said Tweedy in a statement.

Cousin will be released on September 29 via dBpm Records, and it will feature a total of 10 tracks.
