Tributes Flood in for Late Rapper Mac Miller

Mac Miller’s fellow artists have been paying tribute to the late rapper on social media.

The tragic news that US rapper Mac Miller had died of an overdose at the young age of 26 was announced this weekend.

“Malcolm McCormick, known and adored by fans as Mac Miller, has tragically passed away at the age of 26,” his family said in a statement to Rolling Stone. “He was a bright light in this world for his family, friends and fans. Thank you for your prayers. Please respect our privacy. There are no further details as to the cause of his death at this time.”

Following his death, fans and other top artists have opened up about their sadness at the terrible news. Chance the rapper paid tribute over Twitter:

“I dont know what to say Mac Miller took me on my second tour ever. But beyond helping me launch my career he was one of the sweetest guys I ever knew. Great man. I loved him for real. Im completely broken. God bless him. Its so crazy cause [Earl Sweatshirt] literally hit me up this morning him and [Vince Staples] were real friends I met at a pivotal time in my life through mac. This s**t hurts so bad. If you love someone [make] sure u tell em.”

J. Cole also shared his response to the shocking news via Twitter:

“Rest In Peace to the great soul Mac Miller,” he shared. “This is a message for anybody in this game that’s going through something. If you don’t feel right, if you feel you have a substance problem, if you need a ear to vent to. If you uncomfortable talking to people around you. Please reach out to me.”

Snoop Dogg tweeted: So sad u gone home young Mac I had to post this to smile and think about the good Time we had on the set of this movie man god bless ya family. Pittsburg we lost a real one today”

Hundreds of other artists and fans alike have taken to social media to send their loving thoughts to the family and pay tribute to the rapper.
