Thomas Rhett gave us one of his most emotional records to date with Center Point Road, and his fans couldn’t wait to get their copy. They helped him soar to the number one spot on the Billboard 200 chart for the second time.

Center Point Road debuted at number one with 76,000 album-equivalent units sold, becoming the first country album to top the chart this year. It managed to surpass Miley Cyrus’s new EP She Is Coming, which also came out on May 31st and made it to no. 5 with 36.000 equivalent album units earned.

Shortly before its release, Thomas Rhett discussed his deeply personal album in an interview with Billboard and explained why he decided to name it after a road from his tiny hometown in Tennessee.

“That’s where all my growing up really happened. All my first memories of life were on that little street. So I feel like for this record it made a lot of sense – because the record is super nostalgic to me – to name it after something that had a lot of impact on my life,” explained the country star.
