The Weeknd really kept us waiting for his next studio album, but his comeback is finally upon us. The Canadian superstar teased the next chapter of his After Hours/Dawn FM trilogy with a cryptic video that seems to feature a snippet of a brand-new song.
The Weeknd captioned his new video with a Friedrich Nietzsche quote, “When you gaze long enough into the abyss, the abyss gazes also into you…” The dreamy visual shows a kid trying to outrun a dark world he inhabits and make a great escape, while the singer’s new song plays in the background.
“I tried my best to not let you go / I don’t like the view from halfway down / Just promise me that it won’t be so / Will I feel the end? Backed up the ground,” The Weeknd sings in the first song in the video, while the second seems to preview the demo that fans have been referring to as “Hold Your Heart”.
The Weeknd shared this snippet just a few days after dropping another teaser filled with After Hours/Dawn FM references, which he captioned by writing, “There are three chapters in this tale.” He also recently announced a one-night show in São Paulo, Brazil taking place on September 7.
