Tame Impala recently dropped a new track “Borderline” and now fans are wondering when the new album will come out. It has been four years since 2015’s Currents and people want to know why it is taking the band so long to bring out new music.

In an interview with the New York Times, frontman Kevin Parker explained why new music has not been released sooner. As it turns out, the reason is that he has put creating new music on hold is because he’s been feeling “on top of the world.” There just hasn’t been the urge there to make new music.

“Part of the thing about me starting an album is that I have to feel kind of worthless again to want to make music,” he told the New York Times.

“I started making music when I was a kid as a way of feeling better about myself, you know? The ironic thing is, if I’m feeling on top of the world or feeling confident or like everything’s good, I don’t have the urge to make music.”

So the good news is that new Tame Impala music is on its way, but the bad news is that Kevin Parker is feeling “kind of worthless.” And we don’t know what to make of that.
