While warming up for an upcoming tour across North America,  OneRepublic decided to spend some time in the studio and record new music. The band now debuted their new single, “Rescue Me,” while also presenting a music video for the song. This marks their first new music since 2018’s track “Connection.”

“Rescue Me” was written by vocalist Ryan Tedder and bassist Brent Kutzle, who also produced the song alongside Tyler Spry. The music video was filmed in Silverton and features Dancing with the Stars: Juniors contestant Cody Bingham. Watch it below.

“‘Rescue Me’ was written very quickly, 10 minutes or less almost a stream of consciousness,” said Tedder in a statement. “It was me telling Brent, our bass player, and cellist, ‘I wanna write a song with a concept I had started a few years ago (called “Rescue Me”)’. He started playing this lonely sounding guitar riff and the first thing out of my mouth was the chorus as it is now. The concept: In every friendship, there’s a give and take, but sometimes you have to wonder if the love you give is the love you’ll get.”

OneRepublic has a number of shows scheduled for the summer in U.S. and Canada with the first one being in Napa on May 24th. The band will also play in Niagara Falls, Morrison and Del Mar, before wrapping up the trip with a show in Las Vegas on September 13th.
