Billboard Hot 100 is experiencing a huge shake-up this month, and it gave us another no. 1 hit that we should’ve seen coming. Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello topped the chart with their latest collaboration, “Señorita”.
The Hot 100 triumph of this song was a long time coming, but we seriously doubted if it’s ever going to happen. “Old Town Road” by Lil Nas X and Billy Ray Cyrus has been ruling the chart for 19 consecutive weeks, before finally being stopped by Billie Eilish’s “Bad Guy” last week.
It didn’t take long for that to change as the no. 1 spot now belongs to Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello – and they couldn’t be happier about it!
“I’m so excited about the success of ‘Señorita’ and thank you so much to our incredible fans who made this all a reality. We really put everything into this song and couldn’t have wished for more,” said Mendes in a statement.
Cabello echoed his words by thanking fans and said she’s happy to share this moment with Mendes. The duo previously collaborated on 2016 single “I Know What You Did Last Summer”.
