Rod Wave hit No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart with his two previous albums, and he’s showing no signs of stopping. The soup-trap star returned to the top of the Billboard 200 for the third time in three years with his latest album Nostalgia.
Nostalgia edged out the former chart-topper Guts by Olivia Rodrigo by just 3,000 units to debut atop the Billboard 200 chart. It earned a total of 137,000 equivalent album units during its first week on the chart, including 135,000 SEA units, equaling 187.51 million streams across the album’s 18 songs.
Nostalgia is Rod Wave’s third No. 1 album in three years, following the success of SoulFly and Beautiful Mind. This makes Rod Wave only the second artist after Taylor Swift with a new No. 1 album in each of the last three years.
Wave discussed Nostalgia in a recent interview on Apple Music‘s Rap Life Radio With Ebro Darden and described it as a reminder of everything he went through in the past few years.
“Every interview I did, every person, every face I met, every song, every video I shot, I remember where I was at, how I was feeling, what I was doing. So I just had to realize, this is nostalgia. Everything I’m putting out in the world, in the universe,” he explained.
