The memoir Prince was working on before his death will be released after all. Titled The Beautiful Ones, the memoir will be comprised out of the legendary musician’s original unfinished manuscript, rare photos, scrapbooks, and lyrics. According to the publisher Random House, the book will be out on October 29th.

“The Beautiful Ones is the deeply personal account of how Prince Rogers Nelson became the Prince we know: the real-time story of a kid absorbing the world around him and creating a persona, an artistic vision, and a life, before the hits and the fame that would come to define him,” said Random House in a press release.

The Beautiful Ones, which was announced just weeks before Prince’s death, will contain an introduction by New Yorker writer Dan Piepenbring. The 288-pages memoir spans from “Purple Rain” star’s early childhood across formative years to his rise to international stardom. According to literary agent Esther Newberg, Prince completed more than 50 handwritten pages of the book.

Chris Jackson, who serves as the book’s editor, called The Beautiful Ones “a beautiful tribute” to Prince’s life.

“It’s also much more than that: it’s a genuinely moving and energizing literary work, full of Prince’s ideas and vision, his voice, and image,” Jackson continued. “It’s a treasure not just for Prince fans but for anyone who wants to see one of our greatest creative artists and original minds at work on his greatest creation: himself.”
