The legendary musician is coming to Hawaii after more than 50 years’ absence.

Paul Simon announced that he will perform two benefit shows in Maui, Hawaii, his first performances since 1968. Last time he performed on the island was with his legendary partner Art Garfunkel when they played at Honolulu’s HIC Arena on August 68.

The back-to-back concerts will take place August 13th and 14th just two days after the singer-songwriter headlines San Francisco’s Outside Lands Festival — his first concert since he ended his farewell tour last September.

According to Rolling Stone, the Maui concerts are in support of biodiversity conservation. Net proceeds will be donated to The Auwahi Forest Restoration Project and Kua‘āina Ulu ‘Auamo (KUA).

This falls well in line with the retired musician’s pledge to an “ongoing commitment to perform the occasional concert and to donate those earnings to philanthropic organizations, particularly those dedicated to environmental welfare and to preserving species biodiversity.”
