It’s been a while since Nicki Minaj dropped her song “Red Ruby da Sleeze” and she just managed to build even more hype for this song. The hip-hop superstar dropped a music video for this catchy track, filmed in her home country of Trinidad and Tobago.

Minaj’s fans expected the rapper to embrace the imagery from the song’s promo materials, but she went in a completely different direction. Minaj used this music video to pay homage to her home island of Trinidad and Tobago and shared it with the world just in time for Mother’s Day. She spent some time back home during the island’s 2023 Carnival festivities and used her vacation to film her latest music video.

“Red Ruby da Sleeze” was originally released on March 3 and it debuted at no. 13 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The song samples Lumidee’s “Never Leave You (Uh Oooh, Uh Oooh)” and Minaj used its lyrics to subtly diss many female rappers.

Minaj has been pretty busy since the beginning of the year, and she collaborated with many young artists, in addition to working on her solo music. She hopped on Kim Petras’ latest single “Alone” and joined forces with Ice Spice for the viral remix of “Princess Diana”.
