Mötley Crüe members are back in the studio as they wait for their huge co-headlining tour with Def Leppard to resume later this year. According to bassist and primary songwriter Nikki Sixx, the band is currently working on new music and plans to record a few songs in the near future.

Sixx shared the update via pair of posts on Twitter. The first tweet featured a photo of Sixx, drummer Tommy Lee, and touring guitarist John 5 together in the studio.

In his second tweet, Sixx confirmed Mötley Crüe is “writing” and will “go in the big studio next week and record a few off the floor.” But he also hinted that fans shouldn’t expect a new album soon, saying they “don’t have a definitive plan at this point.”

Mötley Crüe’s last studio album came in 2008 with the release of Saints of Los Angeles. They also recorded three new songs that were included on the soundtrack for their 2019’s biopic Dirt.

Mötley Crüe is currently scheduled to perform a series of shows in Europe with Def Leppard starting in May. The group will then return to the United States in August for six dates as part of the North America leg of the tour.
