Michael Stipe has more solo tracks to share with us after releasing his debut solo single “Your Capricious Soul” back in October. The former R.E.M. frontman recently presented another new song titled “Drive to the Ocean,” while also releasing an accompanying video.

Stipe made the song available for download on his website and added a charitable cause to it. He decided to donate all the proceeds from the single in the first year to Pathway to Paris, an organization raising awareness of climate change. The 60-year-old vocalist also donated the proceeds from “Your Capricious Soul,” contributing to the non-profit Extinction Rebellion.

“I am so happy to collaborate with Pathway To Paris for this year 2020. The work that they are doing is vital and foundational— it is essential for a future that we can and will claim as our own,” Stipe said in the statement.

Check out “Drive to the Ocean” and its music video directed by Stipe himself.

Since disbanding R.E.M. back in 2019. He was largely focused on political activism and photography instead of music. He did make several live appearances in the meantime, performing at Pathway to Paris benefit shows.
