Madonna is one of those people who can do anything they want on New Year’s Eve – and she wanted to go to the legendary Stonewall Inn bar.

The Queen of Pop sent a powerful message with her surprise appearance at this iconic spot, not long after midnight. Stonewall Inn gave birth to the modern LGBT movement half a century ago, with the 1969 riots that led to the liberation of this marginalized group in the US.

Madonna was named as the ambassador to the Stonewall Inn for the upcoming 50th anniversary, and she was there on New Year’s Eve to celebrate half a century of revolution.

Madonna performed two songs, while her 13-year-old son David Banda accompanied her on acoustic guitar. She also delivered a powerful speech and encouraged everyone to take time and get to know one another, because we all bleed the same color and we all need to love and be loved.

“Let’s take a minute to reflect on how we can bring more love and peace into 2019, let’s look at how we can bring random acts of kindness. Maybe we can find an opening to bring the light in,” said Madonna during her New Year’s Eve visit to Stonewall Inn.
