Ed Sheeran has announced he is releasing a line of signature acoustic guitars.

The pop sensation has partnered up with Northen Irish guitar company, Lowden. At the NAMM instrument conference last week, Sheeran made a special appearance to discuss the new line.

“There are fewer guitar bands and fewer artists using guitars now, and not as many kids picking up guitars,” Sheeran explained at the conference.

“That is something I would like to change by getting these great quality guitars, made in Ireland, into kids’ hands and encouraging them to learn and progress. To be able to work in tandem with a guitar company like Lowden to create a whole different concept has been a really cool experience.”

The guitar range includes the ‘S Series’ and the ‘W series.’ On the official brand website a description states:

“George Lowden designed the guitars for the player, for uncompromising tone and playability with a careful choice of woods to ensure innate natural beauty. An ‘almost bare’ finish enhances this.”

It adds: “Featuring a choice of solid wood tops, the range offers a selection of options including cutaways and soundbox beve.l”
