New Zealand pop star Lorde seems to be working on new music. At least, that is what her recent social media activity is hinting at.

Lorde recently shared a pair of photos on Instagram that show the “Royals” singer sporting headphones. She captioned the post with: “Listening to myself.”

Her social media followers immediately took that as a sign that Lorde was actually listening to her new songs and began showing their excitement about the upcoming release. This prompted Lorde to respond to one of the comments by seemingly confirming that she is working on new music but also warned fans that they shouldn’t expect it anytime soon.

“We’re not CLOSE close you guys… i’m just getting so hype n needed to let u know .. start ur excitement on a low flame and bring it up to a gentle simmer .. we building stamina for this chapter,” Lorde wrote in response.

Lorde released her latest studio album, Solar Power, back in August 2021. She followed that up by sharing an extended play Te Ao Mārama, which featured five songs from Solar Power performed in the Māori language.

More recently, Lorde debuted a couple of new songs, titled “Silver Moon” and “Invisible Ink”, during her headlining performance at the 2023 Boardmasters Festival.
