From Elton John to Elvis Presley, we’ve seen many music icons get Hollywood treatment in recent years, and Linda Ronstadt is the next one in line. The First Lady of Rock is getting her own biopic, with the Grammy-nominated singer Selena Gomez in the lead role.
After months of speculations, Selena Gomez dropped hints about her involvement in this biopic by sharing a photo of Ronstadt’s memoir on Instagram. The Rolling Stone was quick to confirm the rumors, officially announcing that Gomez will play Ronstadt in this biopic, based on her book Simple Dreams.
Gomez’s casting makes sense since she found success as both an actress and a singer. She’s been nominated for two Grammy Awards, while her work as an actress and a producer on Only Murders in the Building earned her several Emmy and Golden Globe nods.
Linda Ronstadt is known by the nickname “The First Lady of Rock” after transcending genres and pushing boundaries with her music over the decades. She’s been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, in addition to winning 11 Grammy Awards.
Ronstadt’s music experienced somewhat of a renaissance in recent years, especially her song “Long Long Time”, which was featured prominently in an episode of the HBO series The Last of Us.
