Former One Direction member Liam Payne decided to take the next step in his solo career after releasing a string of successful singles. No, we won’t get a full album just yet, but Payne announced he is releasing his debut EP, titled First Time.

The four-song release is scheduled for release on August 24th. In case you preorder the EP, you’ll immediately get access to the title track, which features rapper French Montana.

Aside from announcing his upcoming EP, Liam Payne decided to explain why he still hasn’t released a studio album, which was previously announced for September 14th. According to Payne, his debut record is done, but he wasn’t satisfied with some of the songs on it and decided to get some more work done.

“As you may know, the last few months have seen some big changes for me,” the 24-year-old singer explained. “I looked at some of the songs on my album, which were done a while ago, and they felt from another age. I’m determined for my debut album to truly represent me.”

“I’m now back in the studio working hard to finalize the final few new songs on the record — I’m genuinely excited about the music I’m writing and recording and I can’t wait for it to be ready for you all,” he added.

Besides working on his debut album, Liam Payne is also busy collaborating with other artists. He recently teamed with Rita Ora for the song “For You,” which was featured on the soundtrack of the film Fifty Shades Freed. He also released single “Familiar” with Colombian reggaeton star J Balvin.
