It’s been over a year since Little Mix went on hiatus, and Leigh-Anne Pinnock is finally ready to forge her own path. She dropped an electrifying new song “Don’t Say Love”, her first solo single since Little Mix was dismantled so its members could pursue their solo projects.

Despite having an upbeat dance-pop tone, this song explores pretty heavy themes. Leigh-Anne wanted its lyrics to express the pain and frustration that came with feeling invisible and unheard for so much of her career and finally reaching the point where she no longer needs to seek external validation.

“Don’t Say Love” is Leigh-Anne’s first single since members of Little Mix went their separate ways, and she admitted that releasing music on her own wasn’t easy.

“Although I am nervous to do this journey alone and sometimes wish I had the girls’ hands to hold through it, I know they are on the other side of the phone. They have my back, they want me to win. As I do them. We are genuinely sisters for life,” she told Rolling Stone.

Flying solo has its good sides, as well, and Leigh-Anne recently told Vogue it feels liberating to work on her debut solo studio album without having to compromise.
