Kim Petras is no stranger to aesthetically pleasing music videos and she just gave us another one. The stunning visual for her new single “Icy” sees her dealing with heartbreak in the most chilling way possible.
At the very beginning, we see the German singer trapped inside a glass tank, but she doesn’t stay there for long. She eventually breaks away and transforms into something else, and her escape bears a special meaning.
“I wanted the visual to feel fresh and signify becoming a stronger version of myself. The video starts with me feeling trapped and watched in a glass box, but as it progresses, I escape and evolve into a bionic version of myself through the pain of heartbreak,” Petras explained.
The German hit-maker dropped her sophomore album Turn off the Light earlier this month, but “Icy” surprisingly isn’t one of the songs from this record. It was actually featured on her debut album Clarity, which came out back in June to critical acclaim.
