Kesha is going back to her roots in her upcoming new album High Road, and she recently shared an offbeat video for her new single “My Own Dance,” which perfectly embodies the spirit of this entire record.

This colorful video, directed by Allie Avital, takes the search for a perfect box of cereal to a whole new level. It shows Kesha leaving her hotel room after realizing she’s out of her favorite breakfast food, and coming face to face with a bunch of quirky character before finally finding what she was looking for.

“My Own Dance” reconnected Kesha with her pop roots, but she would never even write it in the first place if her brother hadn’t encouraged her to go down this road.

“He was like, ‘Why don’t you write some pop songs? You’re good at it, you like it.’ ‘My Own Dance’ was the first pop song I wrote. Then I was like, ‘Wait, this is super-fun. Why am I keeping myself from the greatest pleasure of my life?’” recalled Kesha in an interview with Rolling Stone.

“My Own Dance” will be featured on her upcoming album High Road, together with the previously released single, “Raising Hell.”

The album will be released on January 10, 2020
