The BET Hip Hop Awards are one of the leading award ceremonies in the world of hip-hop, and their latest installment was one for the books. Kendrick Lamar emerged as the biggest winner at this year’s show and walked away with four awards, including artist of the year.

Lamar came into this year’s ceremony with four nods and managed to collect all the awards he was nominated for. He defeated tough competition, including 21 Savage, Burna Boy, Drake, GloRilla, J. Cole, and Lil Uzi Vert to be named hip-hop artist of the year.

He was also named the best live performer and lyricist of the year, in addition to winning the trophy for video director of the year alongside Dave Free.

It was also a big night for Drake and 21 Savage, who picked up two awards by each other’s side, including album of the year with Her Loss. The list of contenders in this category also included Lil Uzi Vert’s Pink Tape, Megan Thee Stallion’s Traumazine, and DJ Khaled’s God Did.

The 2023 BET Hip Hop Awards were broadcast on BET on October 10, a week after being taped, with Fat Joe serving as this year’s host.
