Kendrick Lamar has officially signed a contract with BMI (Broadcast Music, Inc).
The rapper was formerly signed with Warner/Chappell Music. Now, he has switched to BMI who represent Rihanna among other big names.
Mike Steinberg, BMI’s EVP of Creative & Licensing released the following statement: “We’re thrilled to welcome Kendrick to the BMI family and expand our great working relationship with Top Dawg Entertainment and its incredibly talented roster.
“Kendrick’s gift for writing and performing such stunningly impactful music has solidified his stature among the world’s greatest artists and, without a doubt, as a major force in our industry for many years to come. We’re honored that he has chosen BMI to represent his creative works.”
In addition to the issued statement, BMI posted on Instagram to welcome Lamar. The photo of Kendrick was accompanied with high praise for the rapper and nods at some of his finest achievements, including his Pulitzer Prize in 2018.
