Julia Michaels is one of our favorite rising stars in the music industry, and she’s constantly managing to impress us with her powerful vocals and emotional lyrics. She’s done it once again with her new song “Body”, which sends an important message about self-love.

If you don’t pay close attention to the video, it may seem like there’s not much happening, but it’s actually quite symbolic. It perfectly reflects the lyrics of Michaels’ latest track and sees her covering up or removing layers of clothing, depending on her level of comfort in her own skin.

Julia Michaels detailed her experience of writing this song in an in-depth essay for Teen Vogue and expressed her hope that other people who struggled with self-love and self-acceptance will feel less alone after hearing it.

“I think everybody has insecurities about their body. I’ll be getting ready and I’ll wear something and nothing feels right, and then I end up not going because I’m so self-conscious. I wanted to write a song about my insecurities because I can’t be the only one who feels this way,” Michaels shared.
