Legendary American rock singer Joan Jett recently treated her fans to a real gem by sharing her take on T.Rex’s 1971 track “Jeepster.” The song is set to be featured on a tribute album dedicated to late T. Rex frontman Marc Bolan.

Titled Angelheaded Hipster: The Songs of Marc Bolan and T. Rex, the record is set to arrive on September 4th and will feature contributions U2, Elton John, and Nick Cave among others. Late Hal Willner serves as a producer.

Jett previously mentioned that T. Rex and the glam-rock movement had a huge influence on her as an artist, so it is no wonder that she brought her A-game for “Jeepster.” It also helped that she was backed by frequent Tom Waits collaborator Marc Ribot on guitar, PJ Harvey’s drummer Jim White on drums and Grammy Award-nominated pianist Thomas “Doveman” Bartlett.

Previously shared covers from the album include Cave’s rendition of “Cosmic Dancer,” Devendra Banhart’s take on “Scenescof,” and Kesha’s version of “Children of the Revolution.”
