Like the rest of the BTS members, J-Hope is working on solo music, and his latest collaboration might just be the best one yet. J-Hope paid homage to his hip-hop and street dance roots in a new single “On the Street” featuring J. Cole.
J-Hope and J. Cole filmed the music video in New York City, and they can be seen moving along a cityscape as the clip progresses. “On the Street” is the best of both worlds, and it opens with J-Hope’s verse, before J. Cole takes over in the second verse, rapping about his personal journey.
This song is the latest addition to J-Hope’s series “Hope on the Street”. He chose the street as the key motif because it can serve as a metaphor for life since it’s the place where many people’s everyday lives pass by.
“It comes from ‘street dance,’ the genre that represents J-Hope’s roots as an artist, and it also symbolizes the path that he will continue to take with his fans around the world,” reads the statement from his label HYBE.
“On the Street” is most likely J-Hope’s last single we’ll get to hear in quite some time since he’ll soon begin the enlistment process to complete his mandatory military service in South Korea.
