It’s only been a week since Kendrick Lamar scored the largest opening week for an album released in 2022, but it didn’t take too long for Harry Styles to break his record. His latest LP Harry’s House easily soared to No. 1, with over half a million units earned during its first week on the chart.

Harry’s House hit the shelves on May 20 and it easily topped the Billboard 200 chart with 521,500 equivalent album units earned. This includes 330,000 in album sales, marking this the largest sales week of 2022 so far. This is the largest debut for an album since the release of Adele’s 30 which hit No. 1 with 839,000 units back in November.

Harry’s House is Styles’ third solo album to hit No. 1 in the US, following the success of Harry Styles in 2017 and Fine Line in 2019. It also debuted at No. 1 on the UK Albums chart with 113,000 album-equivalent units, becoming the fastest-selling album of 2022 in the singer’s home country.

Harry’s House was released to critical acclaim and received praise for mixing many different genres, from pop-funk and pop-rock to synth-pop and R&B. Its release was preceded by the lead single “As It Was”, which became Styles’ second No. 1 single in the US after “Watermelon Sugar”.
