News of Adam Levine’s departure from The Voice took everyone by surprise, but we felt a little better after learning who’s going to take his spot. Gwen Stefani will replace Maroon 5 singer when this show comes back, and she’s as excited about the new season as we are.

The former No Doubt singer discussed her return to The Voice in a recent interview on The Talk and admitted she hasn’t spoken about it any sooner because the whole thing was a huge shock.

“Adam‘s actually the first person to reach out to me when they were trying to pitch me the show, he texted me out of nowhere, and I didn’t even really know him. To think that he’s not going to be there is like bittersweet… But it’s going to be fun, it’s going to be exciting,” said the singer.

Gwen Stefani served as a full-time coach on several seasons of The Voice, but hasn’t returned to this show since 2017. She’ll join Blake Shelton, Kelly Clarkson, and John Legend when this singing competition series returns for Season 17.
