After a four-year-long break, Grimes is finally ready to drop a brand-new album. Her fifth studio recording Miss Anthropocene will be rooted in important issues we’re all facing today, and it should come out
Grimes announced the amazing news in a lengthy Instagram post, and explained its title is a play on words misanthrope and Anthropocene. The project will center around climate change, and the Canadian singer is hoping she’ll be able to make this issue more approachable.
“It’s a concept album about the anthropomorphic Goddess of climate Change: A psychedelic, space-dwelling demon/ beauty-Queen who relishes the end of the world. She’s composed of Ivory and Oil,” she explained.
She also added that each of the songs on Miss Anthropocene will represent a different embodiment of human extinction as depicted through a Pop star Demonology.
Grimes described genre of her upcoming album as “ethereal nu metal”, but said she’ll probably drop a couple of more synth-based tracks in the meantime for fans who are missing her original sound.
