If you think there is not enough good reggae music these days, then you’ll be happy to hear that Steel Pulse decided to do something about it. These British reggae icons finally found time to get into the studio and have now announced they are about to release a first new album in 15 years.

Titled Mass Manipulation, the record will have 17 new songs and is scheduled for release on May 17 through Rootfire Cooperative/Wiseman Doctrine. It will be the band’s 12th studio album and a follow up to 2004’s African Holocaust.

Besides announcing the new album, Steel Pulse also presented a new song “Cry Cry Blood.” Hear it below.

Steel Pulse formed in 1975 in Birmingham, England. The band quickly gained a loyal fan following and became an internationally recognizable act. Their 6th studio album, 1986’s Babylon the Bandit, won Grammy Award for Best Reggae Album and made them the first non-Jamaican act to win this honor.

The band underwent numerous personnel changes over the years, with David Hinds being the only founding member in the current lineup.
