Grateful Dead is preparing a special little something for their hardcore fans. The band just announced it will be releasing a graphic novel in collaboration with Z2 Comics which will be dedicated to the early part of the band and its members’ career. The book will also be paired with an exclusive record that will contain previously unreleased Grateful Dead music.

According to the press release, the graphic novel will be illustrated by Noah Van Sciver while Chris Miskiewicz will serve as a writer. It is scheduled for a wide release in early 2020.

“Chris and Noah have captured the Dead’s sensibility in their words and images that bring to life on the page the earliest days of the Grateful Dead, from the band’s founding in 1965 through to Woodstock,” – said Grateful Dead archivist David Lemieux. “We couldn’t be happier to be partnering with such talented artists who have delved so deeply into the Dead’s history and origin.”

This Grateful Dead graphic novel will be available in Deluxe Edition which will feature a hardcover book and a vinyl recording of the previously unreleased music alongside original and signed art prints. Standard edition will be available in softcover with a digital copy of the music.
