Gil Sharone, Marilyn Manson’s drummer for the last five years, has announced that he will be leaving the band.

Sharone has been recording and touring with the Dark Lord of rock since 2014. He featured on Manson’s 2015 record The Pale Emperor and 2017’s Heaven Upside Down.

The drummer announced his departure in a brief Facebook post, revealing it is time to work on “future projects.”

“After five amazing years playing drums for @marilynmanson, I’ve decided to leave the band,” Sharone wrote.

“It’s been one of the highlights of my career but it’s time for me to pursue other current and future projects. Much love to @marilynmanson and the homies I shared the stage with; @jeordie @tylerbatesofficial @paulwileymm @j_alderete and to the fans. It’s been a blast.”

The other projects Sharone refers to in the post is likely his work with supergroup ‘Team Sleep’. The band features Chino Moreno (Deftones) as well as members from Crosses, Bad Brains and Medeski Martin & Wood.

More news on Team Sleep later.
