Despite releasing their latest album Always Ascending just a year ago, Franz Ferdinand is already making new music. The Scottish rockers recently made an appearance at North Music Festival in Porto, Portugal and decided to treat the audience with a new song titled “Black Tuesday.”

The song sees the band returning to their roots and features a heavy-guitar sound similar to one featured on Franz Ferdinand’s first two albums. You can hear “Black Tuesday” in a fan-captured video below.

Franz Ferdinand’s appearance on North Music Festival was the band’s first live show in 2019 and marked the start of their 2019. The group is scheduled to perform a series of festival and headlining shows across Europe, with the trip scheduled to wrap up in late August with a set on Liverpool’s Fusion Festival.

After five years of studio break, Franz Ferdinand released their fifth studio album Always Ascending in 2018. This was the band’s first new release after the founding member Nick McCarthy decided to leave the band in 2017. The record received positive reviews from the critics and had decent success on the charts. It reached No.59 at the US Billboard 200 while topping the US Independent Albums charts and peaking at number six on the UK Albums charts.
