Brandi Carlile was one of the artists featured on Elton John’s The Lockdown Sessions, and it seems they have more music on the way. According to John’s close friend, The Who‘s Pete Townshend, the iconic British singer recorded an album with Carlile in just two weeks.

Townshend took part in a recent roundtable conversation with Clash Music and revealed that John reached out to Carlile to work on new music together after his Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour came to a close.

“Elton is so fraught with loss at not knowing what to do next. He’s just gone over to LA to make an album with Brandi Carlile. They made an album together in two weeks. He says it’s one of the best things they’ve ever done,” said Townshend.

John and Carlile are yet to share any news about this project, but it wouldn’t be a shocker to see them join forces again. Carlile was one of the artists featured on John’s collaborative album The Lockdown Sessions from 2021, alongside Dua Lipa, Charlie Puth, Miley Cyrus, Lil Nas X, Stevie Wonder, and Stevie Nicks.

Carlile also joined John for a performance at the Dodgers Stadium in 2022, and he later told People that they have an amazing friendship and “find [themselves] in a position of being soulmates.”
