This Friday marked the release of Drake’s highly-anticipated new album For All the Dogs, but he also surprised his fans with some pretty unexpected news that same day. The Canadian hitmaker said he’s taking a break from making music to focus on his health.

Drake detailed his plans in a recent episode on his radio show Table for One on SiriusXM’s Sound 42. He revealed that he’s been having “the craziest problems” with his stomach for a couple of years, and that’s one of the main reasons why he wants to take some time off and focus on his health.

“I got some other things I need to do for some other people that I made promises to but I probably won’t make music for a little bit… So I’ma lock the door on the studio for a little bit, I don’t even know what a little bit is. Maybe a year or so, maybe a little longer,” said Drake.

This news was quite a shocker for his fans because it came shortly after he dropped his latest studio album For All the Dogs on October 6. In addition to the chart-topping SZA collaboration “Slime You Out”, this album also saw Drake team up with 21 Savage, J. Cole, PartyNextDoor, Chief Keef, Bad Bunny, Sexyy Red, and Lil Yachty.
